Didier Deschamps wanted to praise Griezmann in the face of the criticism the Frenchman is receiving in his country for his form, both with 'Les Bleus' and at the end of La Liga with Atletico Madrid.
"We have all experienced times when the mind, the legs.... The two are linked, with less beneficial times, when perhaps there is less confidence," the French coach told 'Telefoot'.
Griezmann has failed to score in 22 consecutive games (17 with Atletico, five in France). However, his national team coach is confident that he will return to the level that brought him to Barcelona a few years ago.
"It's not a question of positioning with us on the pitch, as I always use him in the position where he is best. Then, obviously, he comes in with a certain deficit compared to his end of season with his club," he added.
"He can't find his full ability so easily. I have faith in him, the squad needs him, but it's true that he's not at his best," concluded Deschamps, who did not clarify whether he will play on Monday against Croatia.
