Olivier Giroud will be a Chelsea player for another season, despite the numerous rumours circulating regarding the Frenchman's exit from the club - including a potential transfer to Milan.
However, the club informed this Friday that they already activated a clause to extend the player's contract, meaning Giroud will stay at Chelsea until 30 June 2022.
Club director Maria Granovskaia said: ‘Olivier has been such a crucial part of so many big moments for this club. He has continued to score significant goals, and we will never forget his effort against Atletico Madrid on the way to winning the Champions League this season.
'With so much to still to play for, there was only one decision we could make when we exercised the option to extend his contract back in April’, she concluded
In his fourth season with the Blues, Giroud managed eleven goals in 31 matches, in doing so beating his tally of the 2019/20 campaign.
