Gavi finally registered with Barca 1st team, release clause €1bn

Barcelona have finally managed to tie down midfield star Gavi, after being hampered by Financial Fair Play regulations. Although the 18-year-old agreed to a long-term contract extension last year, he could not be registered as part of the first team, leaving Gavi on his youth contract.
That deal expired this summer, which would have allowed him to walk as a free agent if he hadn't been registered before July 1st, but the club weren't too worried about this as it looked like the youngster had no plans to leave the Catalan side.
The good news is however, that now the star is on a contract until 2026, and has a release clause that stands at an eye-watering €1 billion, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Xavi will be relieved to hold onto the youngster who made 49 appearances, including 30 La Liga starts, this season. He helped his team on their way to the title, netting three goals and assisting seven and he will wear '6' jersey next year, as his team look to defend their trophy.
