Several years have already passed since Fred represented Brazil in the 2014 World Cup. At the age of 30, it seemed that his career was gradually coming to a standstill, as he was already at Fluminense after his adventure in Europe had come to an end.
But the striker has continued to maintain a more than acceptable level in his country. He spent time at Atletico Mineiro before signing for Cruzeiro in 2017. However, relegation to Serie B of this historic club has opened the door for him. And Fluminense is already waiting for him.
The Brazilian could be arriving for free to the Rio team, who happen to be in need of a player who contributes that powder in the offensive zone.
Although Fred did drop his performance in the last season, also influenced by the level of the rest of the team, he did keep good numbers in other campaigns (he scored 20 goals in 2018-19).
At 36 and with a long career, Fred will continue his adventure in the world of football in a scenario like Maracana, which will be his new home (again).
