Former Barca player Moriba returns to La Liga after signing for Celta

RC Celta announced on Wednesday 7 August the signing of midfielder Ilaix Moriba, who will play in Balaidos on loan from RB Leipzig until the end of the season, although the Galician club will keep an option to buy his federative rights.

"Ilaix Moriba arrives at RC Celta full of enthusiasm to bring his great quality and physical strength," said the club chaired by Marian MouriNo.

The Spanish-Guinean came through the youth ranks at Barcelona in 2010. He made 14 La Liga appearances for Barcelona before being transferred to RB Leipzig, who loaned him to Valencia between January 2021 and June 2023, where he made a further 38 La Liga appearances.

In January this year, after participating in the Africa Cup with Guinea, Moriba returned to the Spanish championship by signing for Jose Bordalas' Getafe, with whom he had already coincided at Mestalla. He made 14 appearances for the Madrid side.
