Falkirk fell to a 4-2 defeat to Stenhousemuir in the Scottish Cup third round on Saturday, during which a section of their travelling fans took to aiming racist abuse at one of their own players.

In a statement released on their website and social media pages, the club have described the abuse suffered by forward Dennon Lewis as 'simply unacceptable', and have urged anyone who witnessed the event to come forward to provide evidence.

The statement read as follows:

"Falkirk FC is extremely disappointed to learn of racist abuse directed at Dennon Lewis by its own supporters during Saturday's match against Stenhousemuir. As a club, we wholeheartedly condemn the abuse received by Dennon and will work to identify those responsible."

"The individuals in question were in the Main Stand of Ochilview Park on Saturday and anyone with any information is urged to contact the club on 01324 624121 in strictest confidence. Racist abuse towards anyone is simply unacceptable and will absolutely not be tolerated by Falkirk Football Club."

Falkirk then went on to condemn various other troubling incidents that had occurred in connection to their supporters in recent weeks, and explained that while " this season has fallen well below where we all hoped we would be, it is entirely unacceptable for supporters to abuse our players and staff. "

21 year old striker Dennon Lewis only joined the Scottish club earlier this year, and has only made 2 appearances for the side so far this season.

The investigation into the events is ongoing at this current time.
