The Premier League has become a bigger and bigger attraction in recent years, and as a result many clubs have looked to move to bigger stadiums to capitalise on the demand for tickets.
Having been the home of the club since 1892, Goodison Park no longer serves the needs of the 'Toffees', and so they will move to a new ground due to be built in the Bramley Moore Dock site in Liverpool.
However, the likes of West Ham and Tottenham have found it extremely difficult moving from their old grounds to multi-million pound new ones, but Everton will look to learn the mistakes that those clubs made.
"There's been quite a few stadium moves and some of them arguably made some mistakes and I hope we can learn from those mistakes" Everton CEO Sasha Ryazantsev said.
"Sometimes it's good to be a trailblazer but when you're not first, you can learn from others' mistakes. It is a very long-term project and it will take several years before we move.
"We see it as an opportunity to close the gap on the top six and the stadium itself will create a huge amount of new life.
"It will breathe new life into the team, create new jobs in the area and be worth one billion pounds of economic value to the city."
