The Brazilian league ended on Sunday with a first in the history of the competition. Cruzeiro, who up until now were one of the 4 teams alongside Sao Paulo, Flamengo and Santos never to be relegated, ended the season 4th bottom with 36 points.
They lost 2-0 at home to Palmeiras in a match that couldn't even end. In the last few minutes, incidents in the stand made it impossible for 90 minutes to be played.

Even if the hosts had won, Ceará's draw, the team that came 5th bottom, against Botafogo would have sent them to the 2nd tier no matter what.
Thus, they go down alongside Avaí, Chapecoense and CSA to the Serie B, whereas Bragantino, Sport, Recife, Coritiba and Atlético Goianense will play in the top flight.
