Cristiano Ronaldo urging Al Nassr to lure De Bruyne with $1M weekly salary offer

According to 'Mundo Deportivo', Cristiano Ronaldo is urging Al Nassr to bring Kevin De Bruyne to the Saudi Pro League. The Belgium international's contract with Man City is set to expire this summer, thus potentially making him a free agent for next season. While the Premier League champions will soon begin negotiations for a renewal, reports suggest that De Bruyne could see a significant salary reduction from his current £375,000-a-week earnings. This could open the door for Al Nassr to make a move for the midfielder. 

Cristiano Ronaldo reportedly told his side to offer De Bruyne a lucrative $1 million-a-week contract, believing it would be an offer that he could hardly refuse. The Portuguese is said to want the City star at Al Nassr to raise the level of the Saudi Arabian team, as well the Saudi league as a whole.

De Bruyne has previously stated that he is open to a move to the Middle East. "At my age, you have to be open to everything," he said as he spoke to Belgian outlet 'Het Laatste Nieuws'. "You’re talking about incredible amounts of money in what may be the end of my career. Sometimes you have to think about that." That said, Al Nassr are not the only ones in the race for the 33-year-old, as MLS side San Diego FC have also shown growing interest. 

Nevertheless, Al-Nassr are said to be confident to land the 9-time Premier League champion, as they believe their $1 million-a-week will be more appealing than Man City's, who are also likely to offer him only a short-term contract due to his recent fitness record. The Saudi giants' signing of De Bruyne would see him be added to the long-list of superstars who have recently joined the league along the likes of Neymar, Benzema, Mane, Kante and Laporte.
