While he was only at the club for two seasons, Andy Cole brings back memories of a time when Newcastle United were one of the best teams in the Premier League.
Scoring an incredible 68 goals in just 85 games for the 'Magpies', the striker was part of the team when it was one of the highest spenders in the division.
Even though it would no longer be able to compete with the wealth of Man City or Chelsea, under Mike Ashley there has been a distinct lack of investment, something that the former attacker thinks needs to change.
"In the Premier League, you have got to invest," Cole told 'Sky Sports' as he was inducted in to the Newcastle Hall of Fame.
"If you don't invest, you are going to struggle. Whatever happens, in January they are going to have to invest.
"There are a lot of teams around Newcastle United at the moment - that could get see them get drawn into a relegation battle, and they don't want that."
