Ampadu has received his first official call-up for his country, and he could make his debut during the World Cup qualifier against Austria on September 2.
Last season, the youngster played 13 times for Exeter, making his debut at the age of just 15, before moving to Chelsea earlier this summer. Ampadu has been invited to train with Wales before, but this is the first time he has been named in the official squad.
"He is capable of being with the full 23. He is an excellent young player with a fantastic attitude. He is not a player I would put in just to say this is a taste because we may need to call upon him", said Wales boss Chris Coleman.
