After having arrived at Chelsea just a few days ago as one of the costliest transfers of the summer window so far, Morata already knows which number will be emblazoned across his back this season.
The Spaniard has been announced as Chelsea's new No 9, after the London club released their squad numbers ahead of the new Premier League season.
The Chelsea No 9 shirt has a long and mixed histroy, its previous owner was Colombian striker Radamel Falcao, who left a lot to be desired in London before returning to form last season in France with Monaco.
It is also worth remembering that Atletico Madrid striker and one time Chelsea club-record signing Fernando Torres once also wore the same shirt number before leaving the club after largely disappointing.
Fellow new signing Tiemoue Bakayoko will wear the No 14 shirt at Stamford Bridge.
