Everton had a difficult season last year, after the disappointing performances of Ronald Koeman at the start of the campaign to the tense relationship between Sam Allardyce, who replaced Koeman as manager, and the fans.
The club's hierarchy has made an effort to bring a new look to the 'Toffees' for the 2018-19 season, with highly-rated manager Marco Silva being brought in to introduce a more attacking style of football, and with it players such as Richarlison and Andre Gomes.
So far this season, the new style is paying off, as the blue side of Liverpool have seen their team pick up four points from two games so far, and one the club's most loyal servants is thrilled with the progress made.
"The fans were looking forward to the new regime, a new manager and new players, and we needed to put on a show, which I thought we did. And more importantly, we got the three points." the Irishman said.
On a personal level, this was the first time that he had skippered a game in the Premier League, and expressed his pride at achieving that.
"it is a big honour to captain this club at any level and I am very proud to do it in the Premier League" Coleman added.
