Brentford turn down Newcastle’s £40m approach for Wissa

Newcastle United has made an offer of £35 million plus £5 million in variables for Yoane Wissa, according to Ben Jacobs. The Brentford striker has expressed his desire to join the north-east English club.
However, Brentford rejected Newcastle's latest proposal, as journalist David Ornstein pointed out, and did not consider any counter-offer. The club managed by Eddie Howe is considering whether to submit a new proposal in the coming days.
It should be noted that, with one year remaining on Wissa's contract, Newcastle considers £40 million to be the maximum valuation for the player.
Brentford, for its part, retains a unilateral extension option in the current agreement with the striker. Brentford's refusal complicates the transfer scenario despite the player's explicit interest in moving to St. James' Park.
