Whilst most of the Real Madrid team are looking forward to a bitterly disappointing season reaching its climax, the same cannot be said for Brahim Díaz. The youngster is setting the example to the rest of the squad, and despite the lack of results, he has put in a string of stellar performances recently. He certainly doesn't want the season to end: he wants to play, score goals, assists his teammates...and above all stay in the first team next season.
'Marca' have reported that although the initial plan was to send the 19 year-old out on loan next season, Zidane has been so impressed with the Spaniard's contribution following the opportunities afforded to him that he now plans to keep him on next season in the first team.
Alongside Vinicius, he was Madrid's only real positive from the shameful 3-1 defeat against Real Sociedad at Anoeta, scoring a remarkable solo goal early in the first half. The ex-City man received the ball on the left, dribbled past multiple defenders in the area and squeezed the ball under the goalkeeper from a tight angle to net his first Real Madrid goal.
His adaptation has been instantaneous and you only need to take a look at social media to see how well he has settled in. Brahim has developed a close bond with Isco , but he maintains a more than cordial relationship with other older stars of the squad. He is comfortable and now able to fight for quality minutes next season.
However, with signings expected this summer, there is no guarantee that Brahim will feature heavily next season. The imminent arrival of Eden Hazard could cast doubt on the futures of both Díaz and Vinicius, with Marco Asensio, Isco and Lucas Vázquez all competing for a spot in the starting lineup.
Brahim will likely make his last appearance of a short but sweet season against Betis on Sunday at the Santiago Bernabéu - a stadium which he will hope to shine in next season, but as with many other issues this summer, the ball is in Zidane's court.
