Barcelona lose La Liga despite Eibar win

It was the last chance for Barcelona to win La Liga, and they depended on a defeat from Real Madrid.

Luis Enrique was hopeful that his team could achieve the impossible. That would be winning against Eibar. Nevertheless, it was not only in Barcelona's hands. Real Madrid played in Malaga, and if the hosts beat Madrid, Enrique's team would be the champions of La Liga. In the end Real Madrid won 0:2 in Malaga.

Eibar crushed all the dreams of Barcelona. In the 10th minute, things went from bad to worse. Capa whipped a superb cross over an unmarked Inui and with all his force he smashed the ball into the goal. Barcelona was the better team, but in the first half they could not score. In the second half, Eibar had the better start and Inui scored again.

Nevertheless, Barcelona showed huge team spirit. Junca, Eibar's defender, scored an own goal. After a Messi shot, the ball came off the post onto his foot and into his own goal. After a corner kick, Luis Suarez was standing in the right position to score. Then, in the 75th minute, Ander Capa committed a foul in the box on Messi. The Argentinian striker converted the penalty. The superstar also scored the 4:2. After an extraordinary solo run, he finished with a shot with his left foot.

Barcelona showed team spirit, but in the end the win against Eibar is useless. Maybe it is a win for the fans. They are the winners of the heart.
