Barcelona tried to buy a striker in the last transfer window, but it came to nothing. That was despite trying to get a player who knows the city well in Raul de Tomas.
'Mundo Deportivo' reports that Barcelona ended up showing interest in the Espanyol footballer. Somebody recommended him to Bartomeu he was better at scoring goals than the likes of Depay and Lautaro Martinez.
However, it was Ramon Planes, the Barca technical secretary, who flatly ruled out the signing as he felt de Tomas was not right for Koeman's style of play.
Finally, the club did not try and get the player later on and Raul de Tomas is still at Espanyol. He is trying to get the Catalans back into the top flight. He has scored 12 goals in 19 appearances.
