Everything happened in the first minutes of the second half. Mario Balotelli went for a ball near the touchline. The Brescia player grabbed the ball with his hands and kicked it towards the back of the stadium, where the Hellas fans were seated.
The racist chants that were being produced throughout the game were decisive for the Italian international's reaction. Balotelli threatened to leave the pitch due to the racial insults he was receiving.
The referee instantly stopped the game for about four minutes, at the same time that the players of both teams, both Hellas Verona and Brescia, urged Balotelli to continue playing the game.
"I'm not playing anymore," Balotelli said to the rest of his team-mates. Finally, whilst he was going down the tunnel to the dressing room, his team-mates convinced him to continue while the rest of the stadium chanted his name.
Despite the racist chants, Balotelli continued the game. The Italian international ended up scoring Brescia's only goal, in the final minutes, to pepper the final moments.
Racism is one of the most growing problems in the last few months. From the cases that are happening in England to the experience of the 'pross' against Bulgaria or everything that is happening in Serie A.
