The presentation of the award will take place alongside the rest of the magazine's awards at a ceremony on the 2nd of December. This will be held at the Chatelet theatre in downtown Paris and presented by the Ivorian striker, Didier Drogba.
The Yashin trophy will be presented alongside the other awards: the famous Ballon d'or which was created in 1956, the female Ballon d'Or, and the Kopa Trophy which is awarded to the best player under 21. The latter two were created last year.
For the 'France Football' director, Pascal Ferré, the creation of the Yashin trophy is being introduced as often the main award goes to attacking players. However, he doesn't see it as a consolation for goalkeepers.
He stated that "it will be given to the best goalkeeper in the world, and chosen by the same jury of international specialists that choose the Ballon d'or."
This prestigious award, which between 2009 and 2016 merged with FIFA's award before they both took different paths, is awarded after voting from a jury of journalists all over the world.
The Ballon d'or was originally created to choose the best European player of the year, and since 1995 has included all the nationalities of players that have played in Europe. Since 2007, any player, no matter what country they play in, can be considered for the award.
The award's ambassador, Drogba, came 4th in the 2007 shortlist.
The organisers also indicated that on the 21st of October they will announce the award's candidates, which leaves the jury more than a month to cast their votes.
