Atletico Madrid has had to take a hand in the matter to ensure the club's financial future in such difficult times without football. The club has officially announced that it will have to furlough staff, possibly for as long as the crisis continues.
This temporary regulation of employment has affected 430 club employees, but all of them will be able to continue receiving 100% of their salaries thanks to the agreement that the management has reached with the first team players and the coaching staff.
The members of the staff directed by Simeone will contribute half of the amount that is left to be paid to the employees, while the management will put the other half out of their own pockets until they reach the total remuneration of these workers affected by the measures.
In addition, the players, the coaching staff, the women's players and the members of the B team have had their salaries reduced by 70%. In other words, Atletico has been following the same formula as Barcelona.
"From the outset, the club's aim in considering possible measures to deal with this delicate situation has been to minimise the effect of such measures on the salaries of its employees as much as possible. The agreement reached with the first team will also allow to complement the salary of 430 employees affected, a complement from which only players and technicians of professional teams are excluded. To make this possible, the first team will contribute half of the necessary amount and the members of the club's Management Committee, made up of the CEO and the directors of the different areas, the other half", explains Atlético in the press release.
