Everton manager, Carlo Ancelotti, confirmed that the substitution of James Rodríguez, substituted in the 70th minute of Saturday's match against Manchester United, was through precuation.
"At the end of the first half, he had a tight calf but he could play again, although not the whole game", the Italian manager said on 'Sky Sports'.
James, who scored a goal in his side's 3-3 draw at Old Trafford, was the first Everton change and when he was taken off he spoke with Ancelotti about his left calf.
The player was already a sub in the previous league game because of this problem.
