Deschamps calls up Lucas Hernandez to France squad

Despite speculation suggesting that Lucas Hernandez was going to represent Spain in this summer's World Cup, the defender has been included in France's squad for their upcoming friendlies.

The soap opera regarding Hernandez' international future looks set to be over with France in the driving seat over rivals Spain for the Atletico Madrid centre-back.

Rumours have gone back-and-forth over who was going to snap up the promising defender after the 22-year-old told reporters: "Very soon you will know if I will play for France or Spain".

However, his inclusion in France's upcoming friendlies against Colombia and Russia suggest he will feature in some way, although the final decision will rest with Hernandez as to whether he plays or decides to switch to Spain.

In terms of other players included in the squad, Karim Benzema has not been chosen by Didier Deschamps again, with the manager still unsure whether to bring him to the World Cup following the sex-tape scandal in 2015. 

However, there is a place for Sevilla's Wissam Ben Yedder, whose brace on Tuesday knocked Manchester United out of the Champions League.
