Both Boateng and Ronaldo have jumped ship to Serie A this summer, with the former swapping Eintracht Frankfurt for Sassuolo and the latter moving to Juventus form Real Madrid.
Surprisingly, Boateng did not shy away from comparisons with Ronaldo, despite the Portguese being a five-time Ballon d'Or winner.
"Am I the Cristiano Ronaldo of Sassuolo? Maybe yes, but with 500 fewer goals," he told 'Sky Sports Italia'.
"I'd like to beat him, but first you have to beat Juventus and they have some other very good players.
"Besides, I can't do it all alone. I need the help of my teammates, I can't fight anyone by himself.
"His arrival proves that Serie A is very important, the best player in the world has arrived here and we can only enjoy his 'landing' because he'll show us things we've never seen in Italy."
Whilst Ronaldo has been brought in with one objective and one objective only: to win the Champions League, Boateng has the rather simpler task of trying to help his side better their 11th-place finish in Serie A last season.
