The first goal of Spanish football post-pandemic was from Advíncula, a Black player. The Rayo full-back ran up to the camera to celebrate his goal and sent a clear message against racism: "I love you, Black people!".
His dedication came at the height of the social crisis over a racist murder in the United States. Protests broke out across the country after a policeman, Derek Chauvin, killed a Black man, George Floyd, by pressing his knee into his neck until he suffocated.
And the stage couldn't be better. Being the first match of the resumption of Spanish football, the defender was aware that there were thousands of fans watching him. Not many realised his words to the camera, but in the end, they ended up coming to the fore.
In the press conference, however, he specified that he also wanted to dedicate his goal to his children: "I dedicate it to them, who are the most important to me, and to all those who have always been there". On Twitter, he has on occasion spoken out against racism.
