The La Liga champions have just earned themselves another day's holiday. The club were planning on testing their players for coronavirus on Sunday and then return to training on Monday. In the end, they will be tested on Monday and return on Tuesday.
'Mundo Deportivo' reports that that will be the case at Zidane's request. The coach wanted to reward his men for their good work throughout the season. Real Madrid won the league because they won almost every game since the coronavirus break.
When the squad start training again, they will do so with their minds on the Champions League last 16 second leg clash with Manchester City. They must overcome a 1-2 deficit from the first leg in order to make the quarter-finals. From the quarter-final stage, all matches will be over one leg and in Portugal.
With Real Madrid resuming training on Tuesday, they will have ten days to prepare for the encounter against Pep Guardiola's men. There is enough time for that and how they are for the contest will depend on what Zidane decides to do in those training sessions.
