Toni Kroos only sees himself in Madrid.
"I intend to be here for those three years, then I'll be 33 and it will be a good time to think about how I feel and if I want to keep playing," he said. "In any case, there won't be any headlines about me like 'Kroos goes to China for two years' or anything like that. Forget about it," he said.
Kroos also ruled out a reunion with Pep Guardiola after 2023 if the Catalan is still in charge of City. "In general, I can't imagine myself anywhere else," he explained.
It would be more likely to renew once again with Real Madrid if the conditions are right and if both parties want it. "If we meet and think that we can still renew for a year, because I still perform well enough and still have motivation, I would not rule it out. I can't, when I'm 33 years old, go to England, where they play a very physical football, for example", he said.
However, Kroos qualified his statements by saying that "three years in football are a lot and in Real Madrid, even more".
Kroos admitted that he feels a certain pride in seeing how perceptions of him have changed in Germany since he left Bayern to join Madrid. "There was a feeling in Munich that I was just another international. Many people thought I was going to fail at Real Madrid," he recalled. Now, said Kroos, "it's likely that some people at Bayern will regret letting me go.
On another note, Kroos commented that Spain is looking forward to the Bundesliga's resumption and that it is expected to have no problems that could also impact on other European leagues.
