After what happened with the Iranian woman killing herself after being condemned for attending a football match, the Government has announced that it will now allow women to attend Iran national team matches.
The Sports Minister, Masoud Soltanifar, explained this new measure, saying that "all necessary preparations have been made so that women can now attend football matches".
Iran play almost all of their matches in the Azadi Stadium, where a special zone for women has been reserved, with specific entrances and toilets. There will also be a police presence to ensure security.
Finally, the Iranian president, Hasán Rohani, said that he agrees with this measure to end the discrimination of access to women, which has been in place since the Islamic Revolution.
