Sassuolo are in second last place in Serie A on 24 points. Frosinone are the last team out of the relegation zone with just one more. Therefore, a win against Salernitana would be key for the Nero-verde side to be saved.
"It's an important game, but not decisive. For me, so far we've scored four points in four games and that's more or less the points we deserve, so from now on we'll have to do even better," said Sassuolo coach Davide Bellardini ahead of the clash. Of their opponents he said they are a "very dangerous team, especially in front of their home fans".
The coach gave the key to achieving permanence: "For me, two things are always important: the game and the danger. I want to be well positioned on the pitch, even if I lose the ball. It's clear that when others have possession, you have to be careful and defend well."
Ballardini defended his side's good performance against Udinese in previous matches. "We were good for long periods because we conceded little or nothing to our opponents," he said.
Sassuolo have eight games left to escape relegation, and the first opponent to try to escape is Salernitana. It remains to be seen if Ballardini can achieve his goal.
