Thomas Tuchel discussed Newcastle's Saudi-led takeover ahead of the Brentford 1-0 win on Saturday.
PIF, PCP Capital Partners and RB Sports & Media are the new owners of Newcastle United, making 'The Magpies' the richest club in the world. The sale was criticized by human rights groups given the controversies involving Saudi Arabia but the Premier League has "received legally binding assurances that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will not control Newcastle United Football Club. Tuchel is not worried as he says he trusts the Premier League criteria: "It's normal that people have concerns but we trust the Premier League".
Chelsea's manager seemed overall happy with Newcastle being in the race for the title. 'It seems that we have a new competitor', he said. "This is what we are up for, we play in the toughest league and it gets tougher".
Chelsea stands at the top of the league with 19 points, one more than Liverpool and two more than Manchester City. Chelsea's next game will be the Champions League clash against Malmo on Wednesday 20th October at Stamford Bridge.
