Real Madrid are still reeling from the shock of Zidane's departure this week, and Lucas Vazquez made it clear that the resignation announcement caught him by surprise, but that they have to move forward.
The winger said: ''It was a bit surprising, but it's football, we have to respect the decision and I'm sure we will miss him. It's been an excellent two and a half years, but we have to think about the future.''
The 26-year-old is already focused on everything regarding the Spanish national side, and had strong words of praise for David De Gea whilst noting Lopetegui's reponsibility in choosing an eleven that will take them far in Russia.
He said: ''De Gea has been demonstrating his strength and his greatness in recent years, he is one of the best goalkeepers in the world, and it is a pleasure to play alongside him.''
Vazquez added: ''The 23 of us are very excited and happy to be here, we all want to play, but for my part I can only promise work, sacrifice and giving my all, then it's up to the coach to decide.''
