TEAM NEWS
Tottenham Hotspur
Mauricio Pochettino is likely to be without Eric DIer, Serge Aurier and Erik Lamela, but there are no new injuries for the Argentine to worry about. Tottenham could return to the back 3 they have been adopting, with Davinson Sanchez likely to return to the heart of the defence. Christian Eriksen, Dele Alli and Heung-Min Son are likely to be the attacking trio that support the everpresent Harry Kane. Assuming Pochettino opts for the 3-5-2 option, then Danny Rose and Kieran Trippier seem in prime position to start, leaving Ben Davies on the bench for Spurs. Harry Winks may also be in contention for a start after featuring against Crystal Palace.
Manchester City
The main injury news for the away side is that of their star forward, Sergio Aguero. He missed the match against Brighton in the FA Cup, but is back in training and it is expected that he will start the game ahead of Gabriel Jesus. Fabian Delph has also returned to training, which has come at the right time for Guardiola as incumbent left back, Olexsander Zinchenko is a major doubt, with Kyle Walker also unlikely to play his old side due to a hamstring complaint. Bernardo Silva is expected to start after his phenomenal run of form, with Raheem Sterling also looking to keep impressing in his sensational season. Leroy Sane is likely to be used as a super sub, alongside Riyad Mahrez in what will be a star studded replacements bench.
MANAGERS' THOUGHTS
Mauricio Pochettino on how Spurs intend to play and the importance of the game to his career:
"We are going to start the game trying to be aggressive and dominate. We want to start with a high tempo"
"I think it’s one of the most important games for me as a coach. We know it’s going to be very tough."
Pep Guardiola on Sergio Aguero, Tottenham's strength and racism:
"Sergio feels better. He trained with the team for the first time and he feels better."
"Tottenham is not just Harry Kane, the club is strong. Strong physically in all departments. It’s an incredible team. I have said it a thousand times about them."
"It's always difficult to understand how in the 21st century we debate (racism). We have to fight every day to eradicate it. It’s absolutely ridiculous to still talk and think about it but it’s happened. All we can do is fight every day to create a better society."
