No one will ever forget 2020. COVID-19 arrived earlier this year and wreaked havoc. It took the lives of millions of people around the world and completely changed everyone's lives.
This is what Simeone talked about before receiving the Valladolid at the Metropolitan. He was asked if it was being a particularly hard year for Atlético due to injuries and he said that it wasn't only his team having a hard time.
"It is a hard year for the world, not for football or for Atlético Madrid. The world has suffered a very hard year, the misfortunes that have happened will be recorded, and we have had to live with this virus that appeared. We have had to adjust to this 2020. I hope that we can recover our freedom, our way of life, our friends, our hugs... which comes with living in society. I hope this happens soon," he said.
In spite of everything, he thinks his team is more consistent than in previous years. "There is a significant growth. We are looking to continue in this vein. The footballers are doing well. There are players who give us options that we did not have at the beginning of last year. We add to what they ask of us and we continue looking to improve game by game," he continued.
