The Spanish league will end as stipulated or not at all. The president of LaLiga confirmed in a talk for the Association of Directors and Executives of Aragonese companies that the original format will be maintained. There will be no promotions and no relegations.
"Until June 28th, we have several scenarios to resume La Liga. The most feasible scenario is that of the blocks: first LaLiga, and then, Champions and Europa League. As of today, neither LaLiga nor UEFA are considering not finishing the 19-20 season," he said.
"There will be no league expansion, I'm sure. The league rules out ending the season with a different format than the current one to speed up the deadlines," he also said. This makes it clear that there has to be promotion, relegation, champions and qualification for European competitions as usual.
There is already a league precedent that has been ended in the Netherlands. The Federation decided to end the season without a champion, without promotions and without relegations, but by distributing, according teyJrZXkiOiJOcHpFUGx3ciIsInAiOiJiZXNvY2NlciIsInBsIjoiIn0
He also confirmed how long there will be no fans at the matches: "Doors will be closed until December. The logical thing is that there will be no crowds. That will affect the salary limits and the player sales market. It's going to be practically non-existent and that's going to be noticed at the clubs. Many live from the sale of players and that will also fall a lot".
And what about the contracts that end this year? "We have met with lawyers. And here we have explained the strategy with the contracts that have to be extended beyond 30th June. Most of the contracts are set per season so we believe that if they are extended, the season will end on July 31 and those contracts are automatically extended".
"At this stage you also have to sit down with the operators who will be televising the games. There will be more than 80 meetings. We have to wait until we have dates. There will be a damage here, whether it is played or not. For the bars there will be 39 million damage and there would be 500 in total if not played," he added.
The respect of the protocol must be followed to the T: "All clubs will be governed by the same rules. This is because we all depend on each other. If one club doesn't comply properly, it can affect everyone because a competition can be cancelled. The rules have to be in a regulated protocol".
If a club did not pay attention to the health authorities, the punishment would be the hardest: "If a club refused to play, when the health authorities had already given permission, they would be punished by losing their matches as they had done before".
Tebas was also clear about the losses football is exposed to: "Many steps are mixed up but I like to separate them. 1 billion if you can't play again (damage to clubs in Spain plus damage to clubs in Europe) and, if it were behind closed doors, the losses would be around 300 million euros".
The fact that doors will remain closed until December is part of a new phase: "Until recently, there were four phases, but now there is a fifth: what is going to be done next season. We are already planning economically for next season. We are already seeing it with the clubs. The first phase is the elaboration of the calendars to come back to train and compete".
"You can do the traditional thing or then alternate between week and weekend. I think we're going more to this block model because of the current situation, although it's not the most desired one. There are five countries in the Champions League and eleven in the Europa League. It depends on how the virus develops in the different territories," he added.
With regards to how the coronavirus tests will be done, he asserted: "There is an order from the ministry that indicates the conditions under which RCPs must be carried out and that public or private entities that wish to carry them out must communicate this to the competent authority of the autonomous community".
"They must be done under medical prescription. I would like to point out the responsibility of people in sport who have indicated that RCPs must be carried out under medical criteria and in the order established by the Health Department", he added to this procedure.
