The Atletico fans may have plenty of reason for Ronaldo to be their number one enemy in the Wanda this Wednesday. The main one, of course, being his Real Madrid past. For a large chunk of his career, Ronaldo has worn the jersey of their eternal rivals. That is where the majority of the controversy comes from.
Further beyond that, Ronaldo normally reminds everyone of how many Champions Leagues he has won or of the two finals in which he beat Atletico when he was still a Real player.
"I have five Champions League and Atletico don't have any", the Portuguese stated as he left the Wanda after the round of 16 encounter last year. Atletico had won that match 2-0. In the 2nd leg in Turin, the 'Old Lady' turned the tie around with a 3-0 win.
These words evoked a speedy response from Enrique Cerezo. "He doesn't really have 5 Champions Leagues, he only has three, because the two times he played against Atletico he didn't win the Champions League".
This is a battle between the two sides who have the likes of Joao Felix and Alvaro Morata. Both players have played or play in the same team as Ronaldo.
The ex Benfica player, for example, stated not that long ago that being able to play with Ronaldo "is a dream come true". As well as underlining this during his first press conference, he also stated that in his opinion Ronaldo is the best player in the world and one of the best ever.
Once again, Ronaldo returns to Madrid, once again to the Wanda, to play his 35th match against Atletico. In total, he has won 15 games, drew 9 and lost 10 whilst scoring 25 goals against them.
