Depression is one of the worst illnesses that exist. Those who suffer from it can even think aboiut ending their own life. This is what happened with Paul Merson.
"I couldn't go on. I simply couldn't find a way out..." Paul Merson reiterated to the 'Daily Star'. "I had pills in my hand. I didn't take enough to do anything, but they were there. With vodka... it was shocking," he continued.
Fortunately, the good thoughts outweighed the bad: "The only reason why I didn't do it was because of my family, because of my children and my wife".
He was in a really bad way. "I also had a little bit of a conscience, I probably didn't do it because I was scared. When you are in this place, you don't see a way out," he finished.
Paul Merson was one of Arsenal's greatest players. He won two Premier League (in 1989 and 1991). He also won the European Winner's Cup in 1994.
