Concern is growing at Liverpool. The Reds are 25 points clear at the top of the Premier League, but now it looks like COVID-19 may be about to stop them lifting the trophy for the first time in 30 years.
But what looked like just one of many options is starting to become more realistic. At least that is what 'The Athletic' are reporting.
The cited media outlet says that several Premier League clubs have asked for the season to be declared null and void. In other words, all results and league standings would be annulled due to the fact the season cannot be completed.
'The Athletic' says that for that to happen, at least 14 of the 20 clubs would have to vote for the move.
Up to now, the FA and the Premier League agreed to resume the competition on 30th April if the coronavirus allows. But that is looking more and more unlikely and there are those who preferred the campaign to be declared null and void.
"We would simply just start the season again and there would be very few losers. Liverpool, I know, but in the grand scheme of things, it doesn't matter. We would just have to start again. The situation is going to get worse in the UK," a source told the cited media outlet.
