The RFEF announced a series of possibilities that would be carried out if the league is permanently suspended, moment in which all the attention would be focussed on Europe, as UEFA aren't contemplating cancelling competitions.
The RFEF president, Luis Rubiales, left the door open to playing a 'final four' to end the Champions League, in an interview given to 'FOX Sports México': "No option is ruled out, whether behind closed or open doors, nothing is ruled out".
In reference to this statement, the Federation released a statement explaining the following: "Only in the case that they cannot finish the competitions would the top four qualify for the Champions League, the fifth and sixth to the Europa League and the seventh position will be the team with a positive right, in this case, the team in the Copa del Rey final".
Therefore, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Sevilla and Real Sociedad, the top 4 in the league, would be the teams that would play in the Champions League, while Getafe and Atlético Madrid, 5th and 6th respectively, the teams qualifying for the Europa League.
Finally, the 7th place given for being a finalist in the Copa del Rey would go to Athletic Bilbao, leaving Valencia wanting more as they occupy 7th place in the table.
