Simply put, Australia were never expected to get anything from their World Cup Group C opener against France on Saturday, but there was enough on show in their narrow 2-1 defeat at the hands of 'Les Bleus' to suggest that Peru and Denmark face a battle to claim a berth in the knockout stages.
