Atletico Madrid went ahead and took Geoffrey Kondogbia from Valencia. Recently arrived, the midfielder was going to have two good weeks to integrate into Simeone's system. In the end, it won't be like that.
After just two training sessions with Atlético, the Central African Republic have called Kondogbia up for the upcoming international break, so Simeone will be without his brand new signing for these days.
François Zahoui, manager of the country, included Kondogbia like was expected in his list of 35 players (he will leave it at 23 later). The now-ex Valencia player is the reference of the Central African Republic after refusing to go with France.
The country dream of qualifying for the African Cup of Nations and for that they will have to face Morocco and Cameroon on 13th and 17th November respectively.
Once the camp is over, Kondogbia will return to Atlético and will be able to work alongside the rest of his teammates. He will do so, however, without two weeks that for Simeone would have been fundamental.
