While in full concentration on the European Championships, Kounde threw down the gauntlet looking ahead to the transfer window this summer. His exit from Sevilla could on the way. The Frenchman showed his interest at potentially leaving the club, and he certainly won't be lacking in offers from potential buyers.
"Changing club this summer is a possibilty, although nothing has been done yet. My goal is to grow as part of a great club to try and always progress and win titles. Maybe I will need to move, but that's not the issue right now", he highlighted a few days ago in a press conference.
Arsenal and Manchester United would be the two clubs most interested in the French CB. Sevilla, however, are relaxed, given the exorbitant release clause that Kounde currently has. This is according to 'Marca', who point out that any side interested in the player will have to fork out 80 million euros.
It looks unlikely that any club will be able to match this price, especially considering the effects that COVID-19 has had on clubs' financial situations. Sevilla certainly have this to their advantage, although they wouldn't lose their heads if Kounde did end up leaving the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan.
Kounde has taken the first step in putting his name on the market. Now, it will only take Sevilla to give it the go-ahead before offers start stacking up. Meanwhile, the sporting directive are covering their backs, as they go on the hunt for a possible replacement.
