The Barcelona first team squad have finally agreed to sit down next week at the negotiating rable to talk about the pay cuts. The club want to reduce the players' salaries by around 30%.
'SER Catalunya' says that the club have agreed to the players' request that their contracts should be negotiated separately.
Even the AFE (Spanish players association) intervened and said there were important flaws in the process. Now, the squad has accepted to sit at the negotiating table although the club have already been negotiating with some players individually.
Up to now, 'AS' says that Ter Stegen, Lenglet, De Jong and Pique have renewed their contract to postpone the payments. Trincao, Dest and Pjanic's contracts were already subjected to the club's new economic conditions. Barca are still negotiating with Jordi Alba, Busquets, Sergi Roberto, Coutinho and Dembele.
This agreement comes shortly after Gerard Pique openly criticised the board's measures in an interview with 'La Vanguardia'. "Barca have spent money on criticising us, it's madness," the central defender said.
The latest developements mean the tension between the players and the board members has reduced for the time being.
