The 'Blues' had dominated possession early on in the game, but they had failed to really cut open Jose Mourinho's men.
United had been solid and limited dangerman Eden Hazard to a couple of forays forward in the first 20 minutes, only for a major error from Pogba to hand the hosts the opener.
When Willian swung in a corner from the right United seemed to have everything under control, but by the time it reached the penalty area Antonio Rudiger had escaped the attentions of his marker to procure himself a free header.
That marker was none other than Pogba, whose momentary lapse in concentration was all the German needed to dart away from the World Cup winner and plant a simple header across David De Gea and into the far corner.
The error will no doubt serve only to add further fuel to the debate as to Pogba's qualities, with many on social media taking the opportunity to poke fun at his failings.
