Rooney travels with Everton

Everton striker Wayne Rooney has today travelled to Italy alongside his team-mates as they prepare to kick off their campaign in the Europa League.

His appearance as the side flew out from Liverpool's John Lennon Airport on Wednesday morning appears to confirm earlier reports that the England all-time top goalscorer had not asked sympathetic leave, despite expecting a fourth child with wife Colleen, and preparing for a court appearance relating to a drink driving charge.

His Everton side travel to Italy, as they hope to get off to a winning start against Atalanta.
