Ronaldo: "A Korean player told me to leave quickly and I told him to shut up"

Cristiano Ronaldo claimed that their words were not directed at the coach when he was replaced by Fernando Santos, but at an opponent who was urging him to leave the pitch.

"The Korean player was telling me to leave quickly and I told him to shut up because he is not an authority," Ronaldo said.

"There is no need for controversy. It's the heat of the match. Whatever happens, things always stay on the pitch. The most important thing is that we have to be united. We are in the last 16."

Portugal went through as group winners in the biggest competition. Second are South Korea on four points, the same as Uruguay, who are out at the last minute as the goal difference was in Bento's side's favour. Ghana also dropped out of the group with three points.
