Robertson, who arrived at Anfield this summer, has found his chances limited so far this season, but is more than aware of his team's defensive frailties.
Liverpool have conceded 11 goals in six Premier League games this campaign, a ratio that Robertson admits must improve if the Reds are to be successful this season.
'I do believe as a group we can get better defensively and I can be part of that,' Robertson told the club's official website.
One aspect that the defender was keen to point out was that the onus shouldn't simply be on the defenders.
'As a group we have to work together to get better defensively because, if the midfielders can help us and the strikers can help us, then as a team we'll improve,' said Robertson.
'The threat we've got going forward, the counter-attacks are frightening at times.
'So, if we can just shore up at the back and not concede silly goals and not switch off then we'll be a big force,' he added.
