The defeat against Atletico Madrid in Jeddah has once again put Ernesto Valverde's future into question, and now sources in Spain claim that the subject of his continuity could be discussed in a meeting with the club's board.
Meanwhile, Barcelona chiefs have had a meeting in Doha with former player Xavi to discuss becoming their new manager according to Spain's RAC1.
Sporting director Eric Abidal and CEO Oscar Grau met with the club's former player on Friday. Xavi is the manager of Qatar outfit Al Sadd and the Catalan giants believe he is the man to replace under pressure Ernesto Valverde.
Meanwhile, the 55-year-old remains relaxed and has insisted that talk about his future is understandable, despite some linking this defeat to other more significant ones in recent years, such as the elimination at the hands of Roma and Liverpool in the Champions League, and the defeat to Valencia in the Copa del Rey.
'Coaches always move with the idea of working hard and giving everything in every game,' he said following the defeat.
'We know what football is like, that there is always permanent instability.
'When the results are bad or when you lose, as has happened tonight, I suppose we will talk about this and other things. It's inevitable but I will do my job."
