A lot was expected of him when Borussia Dortmund signed him in the middle of June 2016 just after the start of the Euro 2016 championships in France. He was playing for Portugal, who would go on to win the tournament, and Dortmund paid L'orient 12 million euros for the then 22 year-old full back.
But he never reach the level expected of him. He could not replicate his brilliant performances at the Euros with Dortmund and he became less and less important in the side. In fact, the Portuguese hit rock bottom when the German club did not perform on the pitch and his reappearance this season coincided with the team bouncing back.
Was it a coincidence? Possibly. But the truth is that Dortmund do not seem to be making much effort to keep this 25 year-old fullback. He is not short of offers and he only needs to decide on one.
The latest offer to arrive has come from PSG, a club who are willing to put 15 million euros on the table to start with, according to 'Bild'. It would be strange though if Dortmund settled for such a small amount.
Guerreiro has a market value which is slightly higher than that amount and Dortmund could demand up to 40 million euros given the current state of the market. PSG are not willing to spend that much, but they could raise their offer to 20 million.
