At 33 years of age, Ivan Perisic is still proving that he can compete at the highest level. This season, he has been one of Inter Milan's most important players and his team now find themselves firmly in the fight for the league title.
He has appeared in 45 matches this season in all competitions, across which he has netted seven goals and made eight assists. Nevertheless, his top drawer performances have failed to secure him a renewal deal at the club as of yet.
The 'Nerazzuri' have already expressed their firm interest in extending the World Cup runner up's contract. However, the current situation at the club, in terms of the team battling it out in the title fight, has meant that his renewal talks have been put on hold.
Moreover, 'La Gazzetta dello Sport' reported this Tuesday that the club have decided not to reactivate negotiations until the end of the season.
The most recent conversations revealed a difference of opinions concerning the details of the renewal. The club were offering a two year extension with a salary of four million euros a season, whereas the player wanted six million a season. In any case, only time will tell whether he decides to stay at Inter, or if he looks for a new challenge elsewhere.
