The Bulgaria national team suffered a serious road accident after arriving in Tbilisi. The team were on their way to the hotel when the driver of the first of the two buses which was transporting them lost control of the vehicle. That led to a serious accident.
The Bulgarian Football Union (BFUnion) has reported what happened on its official web page. They explain that their national team suffered an accident on their way to face Georgia on Sunday on matchday four of the UEFA Nations League.
After the collision, Todor Nedelev had to be transferred to a local hospital, where he was under observation. "All the other members of the team and the Bulgarian national team are fine," the Federation says in an official statement.
Finally, Nedelev had to have surgery and the operation was a "major success," according to the BFUnion's statement. Apparently, the 29 year-old player for Botev Plovdiv suffered a head injury and required surgery.
"Nedelev will remain under the supervision of the local medical teams, as well the Bulgarian national team doctor, Dr. Biser Bochecv. The Bulgarian Football Union will immediately inform the public about Todor Nedelev's current state. All the other players and members of the Bulgaria team are in good health," the official statement concludes.
