OFFICIAL: Madrid renew Nacho until 2023

Real Madrid ensures the continuity of one of its hard-working players. Nacho Fernández has officially renewed his contract with 'Los Blancos' until the end of the 2022-23 season, in other words, for two years. The defender has spent his whole life in white, in a role that is not always been spectacular, but always essential.
The 2020-21 campaign was a time when there were strong arguments in favour of this reality. Faced with the physical problems or cases of coronavirus that plagued Zinedine Zidane's squad, he took the baton alongside Militao to form a centre-back pairing that did away with the role of reserve to demonstrate his talent and why he is at one of the best clubs on the planet.
With Carlo Ancelotti now in charge, the Spaniard, who already knows him from his first period - that of the 'Tenth' - at the Santiago Bernabeu, will have the stability to fight for an important position under his command. It will be difficult for him in the face of the imposing emergence of David Alaba in the squad, or the influence of Raphaël Varane - if he does not end up signing for United - but what is certain is that he will continue to be a player on whom his coach can rely.
"Real Madrid CF and Nacho Fernández have agreed a contract extension for the player, who remains linked to the club for the next two seasons, until 30 June 2023," read the official statement issued by Real Madrid. It didn't take long for there to be a whole host of reactions on social media. The fans are excited about the new deal.
